MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 4 University of North Georgia baseball team tied the game up in the fifth inning, but Georgia College scratched a run across in the seventh and held on for a 4-3 win in the series opener Friday night.
The Bobcats got things going in the second inning on a Will Hudgins two-run homer and then added a third run in the fourth on a RBI groundout to lead, 3-0.
North Georgia stormed back in the fifth, putting two on in front of
Chase Sudduth, who doubled to bring both home and cut the lead to one.
Bill LeRoy then stepped up and singled to score Sudduth and tie the game up.
GC answered though in the seventh, getting runners on and bringing home a run on a sacrifice fly to take the lead. UNG was unable to get much going in the eighth and ninth innings as the Bobcat pitching staff did enough to hold on and secure the Peach Belt win.
