ORLANDO - The University of North Georgia men's tennis team completed their spring break road trip with a comfortable 4-1 win over Bluefield State Thursday. The win sees them go 4-0 on the road trip and also move to 11-1 on the season.
No. 1 and No. 3 doubles continued to take care of the doubles point as the pairing of
Ryan Gaskin and
Hugues Renaud clinched the point following an earlier win from
Niklas Zielen and
Jess Jones. Zielen and Jones won comfortably 6-1, while the No. 3 pair clinched following a 6-3 win.
Jones continued his hot form at the No. 1 spot, putting on a clinic to dismantle his opponent 6-0, 6-1, and was quickly followed off of court by Gaskin, who won 6-3, 6-1 to put the Nighthawks 3-0 ahead. The match was then clinched when Zach Waldow completed a big win at the No. 6 spot, taking UNG home, 6-3, 6-1.
The Nighthawks now have a well-earned rest, as they don't return to the court until March 23, where they will take on Young Harris in the third PBC match of the year. First serve will be at 1 p.m. in the Battle of Blood Mountain.
