DAHLONEGA - Winning every matchup along the way, the University of North Georgia men's tennis team got off to a 1-0 start in league action, defeating Augusta, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon.
The Nighthawks swept doubles for a second straight day, dropping just six games over the three courts. No team was particularly troubled with the closest score being 6-3.
UNG then went on to win all six singles matches, three of them in the third set.
Niklas Zielen enjoyed a comfortable win at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2 ,6-3, while
Jess Jones won the battle of the day at No. 1 singles, triumphing 7-5 in the third set of a three-set thriller.
The Nighthawks return to the courts on Saturday, this time away in Tennessee against Carson-Newman. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
