DUE WEST, S.C. - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team got 21 points from
Josh Cottrell and 18 from
Zez Steeple on their way to an 82-53 win over Erskine Saturday evening.
The Nighthawks started the game on an 11-0 run paced by two three-pointers from Cottrell. The Flying Fleet cut the lead down to five in the first half, but UNG would pull away and stretch the lead out to 29 points late, which is where the final margin ended.
NOTES
- Cottrell finished 7-for-7 from the floor, all from behind the three-point line. His perfect performance set a new NCAA era record for single game three-point percentage.
- North Georgia shot 69.4 percent from the floor, the second best shooting performance in the NCAA era of the men's basketball program. The 63.2 percent from downtown was third all-time.
- The Nighthawks assisted on 21 of the 34 made buckets, led by
Ephraim Tshimanga's seven dimes.
