DAHLONEGA - Looking to defend the Peach Belt crown for the seventh straight year, the University of North Georgia softball team and head coach
Mike Davenport have released the 2020 schedule that includes 14 home dates at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.
The season will kick off with back-to-back tournaments on the road, starting at the Gulf Shores Invitational before the #ItsLit Tournament in Chattanooga. North Georgia will open the home schedule with a doubleheader against Lee on February 11 and then host Southern Wesleyan for a twinbill on the 13th. That same weekend, UNG will host The Cottrell Foundation Loyal Blue Classic, welcoming in SWU, Gannon, Southern Indiana and West Chester for the three-day tournament.
After a week-long swing through Florida, the Nighthawks return home for a three-game set against Lincoln Memorial before hosting the Captain D's Surf 'n Turf Classic at The Hill March 6-8. Texas A&M - Kingsville and Wisconsin-Parkside are the teams competing against UNG on that weekend.
From there, North Georgia jumps right into Peach Belt play with eight league games in a row at home, including twinbills with Francis Marion, UNC Pembroke, Georgia College and Young Harris. The 14-game homestand, which starts with the Surf 'n Turf Classic, ends with a doubleheader against Alabama-Huntsville on March 25.
UNG will hit the road for the remainder of the regular season's games except for one final home doubleheader on April 10 against Flagler in league play.
A special exhibition game is scheduled to be played on April 5 as North Georgia will take on Team USA in Woodstock. More information about the exhibition will be provided at a later date.
