Game Preview: The No. 20 University of North Georgia women's basketball team will hit the road for the first of a three-game road trip as they battle Young Harris in the Battle of Blood Mountain Wednesday night. UNG will then travel down to Augusta on Saturday to take on the Jaguars.

Rankings: North Georgia is currently ranked No. 22 by the WBCA and No. 20 by D2SIDA in the latest polls released on January 15. The Nighthawks stayed at No. 2 in the D2SIDA Region poll.

Last Week: The Nighthawks bounced back in a major way last week by beating Columbus State on national television, 82-70, before blowing past USC Aiken Saturday afternoon, 67-40. Tamera Thorpe averaged 17.5 points per game on the week to lead North Georgia.
 
Scouting Young Harris: Under first year head coach Jim Davis, Young Harris is 3-11 on the year and just 1-7 in Peach Belt Conference action. YHC has lost five straight since a win over Augusta back on December 17. Pamela Diokpara leads the Mountain Lions with 10.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Series Versus Young Harris: North Georgia is 12-4 against Young Harris all-time and has won eight straight in the series. The Nighthawks won a thriller last season at YHC, winning 71-69 in a nationally televised contest as part of the NCAA Division II Showcase.

Scouting Augusta: Augusta is 1-11 on the season and 0-6 in league play. Earlier this season, the Nighthawks defeated the Jaguars, 63-56, on December 19 at home. Asia Harrison is averaging 9.9 points per contest to lead AU on the floor.

Series Versus Augusta: North Georgia is 13-7 against the Jags all-time, including four straight wins. The Nighthawks are 7-3 all-time at Augusta, including winning six of the last eight.

PBC Individual Stats: Amber Skidgel leads the Nighthawks in scoring and is sixth in the league at 15.1 points per game. Julianne Sutton and Vanessa Agrusa are seventh and 10th, respectively, in the league in rebounds per game. Sutton is also seventh in the conference in field goal percentage, while Skidgel comes in in sixth place in the league in three point percentage.

PBC Team Stats: North Georgia is fourth in the Peach Belt Conference in scoring at 72.3 points per game. The Nighthawks lead the league in scoring defense, giving up just 58.6 points per game and has the second largest rebounding margin in the conference at 9.2 rebounds.

Battle of Blood Mountain: Wednesday night's game is part of the Battle of Blood Mountain. North Georgia has won the previous five years that the two schools have competed in the trophy rivalry. Currently, UNG leads YHC, 2.0-1.0, after claiming the women's soccer and women's golf points.
