LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Adrienne Bofinger and
Cibeles Zuddy forced a tiebreak at No. 3 doubles, but the No. 28 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell to NAIA's No. 2 ranked Georgia Gwinnett, 9-0, Thursday afternoon.
After the Grizzlies took Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, Bofinger and Zuddy battled back-and-forth at No. 3 doubles, bringing the match to 8-8 and forcing a tiebreak. Neither side was able to break serve until the Grizzlies scored off UNG's serve and held on to win the tiebreak, 8-6.
From that point, GGC took the momentum into the singles matches, winning all six in two sets each. At No. 6 singles,
Laura Van Der Hage forced a 7-5 first set, the closest set of the singles matches.
North Georgia will wrap up regular season play with a Peach Belt Conference matchup against Flagler Saturday morning at the UNG Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
