DAHLONEGA — The No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team's domination at the plate shut down Southern Wesleyan in two five-inning games, winning 9-1 and 11-0 Wednesday afternoon at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.

GAME ONE
North Georgia bats dominated SWU in game one with nine runs and twelve hits.
Shelby Hammontree's RBI single to center to score
Marley Stowers put UNG on the board early in the first, but Nighthawk offense didn't break open the flood gates until the fourth frame.

UNG loaded the bases to begin their fourth inning eight-run tirade with a double from
Alishia Frierson, a single from
Jordan Deep and a
Hobby Gregory bunt single.
Sydney Sprague tacked on the second run with a sac fly to right center, then Stowers' base-clearing double extended the lead to 4-0. A RBI double from
Brittany Gilliam followed by a RBI triple from Hammontree pushed the lead even further to 6-0.

Kelly Kahlert,
Allison Neely and
Kara Groover laced together some more RBI to secure the 9-0 lead for the Nighthawks. The Warriors tried to make a comeback in the fifth with a RBI single from Michaela Wickham to score Josie Edwards, who reached on a single of her own, but were unable to capitalize, forcing the UNG run-rule.

GAME TWO
UNG offense remained strong in game two. Stowers doubled to center to start the rally in the bottom of the first, with Gilliam behind her with a RBI blast to right to get UNG on the board.
Kaylyn Anthony added a RBI single of her own to tack on another run, 2-0.

The Nighthawks collected seven more runs in the second frame. A RBI triple from Gregory and a two-run homer from Sprague extended the lead to 5-0. Anthony delivered again for the Nighthawks with a two-RBI bomb to center to score Gilliam and Hammontree. A solo shot over left from Frierson ended the inning, 9-0.

Amber Johns continued her no-hitter in the circle, limiting the chances for SWU to fight back. In the bottom of the third frame, Anthony put up another two-RBI double to end the game, 11-0.
