No. 32 Men's Tennis Drops PBC Match at No. 2 Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Ryan Gaskin claimed the lone point for the No. 32 University of North Georgia men's tennis team against No. 2 Lander Tuesday as the Nighthawks fell in Peach Belt Conference play, 8-1.

The Bearcats came out quick in doubles, claiming the first point of the afternoon at No. 3 doubles, 8-1, before winning two tight matches at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles by identical 8-5 scores.

The first four singles matches went in Lander's favor in straight sets. After dropping the first set at No. 2 singles, 6-3, Gaskin battled back to win the second set, 6-0, forcing a third-set tiebreak that UNG won, 10-5. Niklas Zielen won his first set at No. 1 singles but dropped the final two sets, 7-5 and 10-4.

North Georgia is now 7-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

The Nighthawks will take on Augusta on the road on Friday in PBC play as they look to snap a two-game losing skid. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
