AUGUSTA, Ga. - Four Nighthawks had multi-hit games as the University of North Georgia baseball team defeated Augusta, 6-4, Saturday evening, claiming the season series win over the Jaguars. The Nighthawks are now 14-12 on the year and 7-7 in Peach Belt Conference play.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Nighthawks struck first in the fourth. With the bases loaded and one out,
Steven Tomlinson drove home the game's first run on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Jake Arnold stepped in next and drove a single into right field, plating
Conner Corbitt to double the UNG lead.
The Jags answered in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff triple that led to Augusta's first run of the afternoon two batters later. North Georgia got that run back and two more in the fifth, scoring a run off a Jaguar error and two more on a passed ball to increase the lead to 5-1.
Augusta started to battle back in the seventh, using a leadoff double and a sacrifice bunt to cut the Nighthawk lead to three. The Jaguars cut into the lead even more in the eighth by plating two runs on a Brent Alford double, but
Parker Morrison was able to leave two runners on base with an inning-ending strikeout. North Georgia got an insurance run in the top of the ninth on a Tomlinson single to give UNG the two-run win.

Kyle Luigs (3-1) earned the win after 6.2 innings of two-run baseball, striking out four and walking just one. Morrison earned his fourth save of the year in two innings of work, giving up just one hit and two walks.
