YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Corey Nelson had a career-high 36 points and added 11 rebounds as Young Harris defeated the University of North Georgia men's basketball team, 98-77, Wednesday night as part of the NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase nationally televised on ESPN3.
North Georgia led for just 1:25 in the contest, but the Nighthawks had a chance late in the game. With the Mountain Lion lead at 17 with 7:33 to play, UNG went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to single digits with just under six minutes to play. YHC responded with a 13-0 run, however, to put the game away and claim the win.
NOTES
- With the win, YHC earns a tie for the men's basketball point with North Georgia in the Battle for Blood Mountain, unless the two teams meet in the postseason.

Shaquan Cantrell led three Nighthawks in double figures with 16 points.
Ephraim Tshimanga and
Carrod Watson contributed 14 and 10, respectively.
Lanre Olatunji pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds.
- Both teams got a majority of their points in the paint. YHC had 50 points in the paint, while the Nighthawks had 46 of theirs come from inside.
