Game Preview: The University of North Georgia men's basketball team return home to finish the 2018 calendar year with two Peach Belt Conference matchups against Flagler and Augusta.

Last Week: North Georgia split its last two games, falling in the Peach Belt opener to Francis Marion before finishing out the non-conference portion of the schedule with a win over Emmanuel.
Scouting Flagler: Flagler is 4-3 on the year and started off PBC play with a 71-69 win over Clayton State back on December 1. The Saints are coming off a loss to Paine in their final non-conference game of the year. Vaughn McCall leads Flagler in scoring with 14.7 points per game, while Damerit Brown averages 14.3 points per outing.
Series Versus Flagler: The Nighthawks lead the all-time series against Flagler, 10-2, but the Saints won the last matchup last year. North Georgia is 4-2 against Flagler in Dahlonega.
Scouting Augusta: Augusta is 5-2 on the year, picking up a win in exhibition action over South Carolina to kick off the season. The Jags are in the midst of a stretch of four wins out of the last five, including back-to-back wins headed into a Monday matchup with Young Harris. Deane Williams leads three Jaguars in double figures with 13.6 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Series Versus Augusta: Augusta leads the all-time series, 12-6, and the teams have split the last six matchups. UNG has won two straight in Dahlonega and three of the last four.
PBC Stats: Shawn Hopkins leads the Peach Belt Conference with 20.1 points per game, nearly three points more per game than the next closest. Lanre Olatunji is fourth in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 62.2 percent from the field. The junior is also seventh in the PBC with 7.6 rebounds per outing. The Nighthawks are fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 81.7 points per game while giving up just 70 points per game, which is second lowest in the league.
National Stats: North Georgia has the ninth best rebounding margin in the nation, pulling down 9.4 more boards per game than its opponents. Ephraim Tshimanga is No. 17 in the nation in steals per game, taking the ball away 2.7 times per game.
Nighthawk of the Week: Shawn Hopkins was named the latest Einstein's Bagels Nighthawk of the Week by the UNG Athletic Department. Hopkins scored a game and season high 26 points as the University of North Georgia men's basketball won in non-conference action at Emmanuel. The senior scored 17 of his 26 in the second half, including making four three-pointers in the final 20 minutes of play. He added six rebounds and four steals in the victory.
