MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Amber Skidgel notched a game high 17 points as the No. 17 University of North Georgia women's basketball team defeated Auburn-Montgomery Sunday afternoon, 74-47.
The Warhawks led for just 12 seconds after Jordan Brewster hit a three pointer to put AUM up, 3-2, before
Julianne Sutton hit a layup to retake the lead for UNG. The Nighthawks outscored AUM, 24-10, in the first quarter to take a firm grasp on the game and continued to extend the lead throughout the game until hitting the 27 point margin just seconds before the final horn.
NOTES
- Skidgel was 7-for-13 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Tamera Thorpe had 14 points, while Sutton and
Abbie Franklin had 12 and 11, respectively.
- North Georgia had 50 points in the paint, compared to just 20 Warhawk points from inside the lane.
- UNG has now won six straight in the series against AUM and have won both games in the NCAA era.
