FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Despite two three-set matches in singles, the University of North Georgia women's tennis team earned a season opening shutout win of Emmanuel Wednesday afternoon, 7-0.

UNG claimed the doubles point with two quick wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. Adrienne Bofinger and Lexa Loden won, 6-0, before Holly Bennett and Vaishali Jorge won by a score of 6-2.

From there, the match got a little more competitive. In singles play, the Nighthawks found themselves down a set at Nos. 1 and 5 singles, but Jorge and Rafaella Villanueva bounced back in each of their respective matches to earn their wins.

Bennett, Bofinger, Cibeles Zuddy and Claudelle Labonte Frey each earned straight set singles wins.

The Nighthawks will be off for the rest of the fall and will take the courts again on February 2 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. First serve against Lenoir-Rhyne is set for 11 a.m.
