Women's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight By Defeating Pacers, 66-49

AIKEN, S.C. - Vanessa Agrusa led all scorers with 19 points as the University of North Georgia women's basketball team won its fourth consecutive game in a 66-49 defeat of USC Aiken Saturday afternoon. The Nighthawks improve to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.

An 11-0 run early in the first quarter put the game out of reach of the Pacers as the Nighthawks bolted out to a 21-7 lead after the first period. The lead got up to as many as 19 points late in the third quarter for UNG and never went below double digits after that point.

NOTES
- The Nighthawks' defense continued its dominance, holding the Pacers to just 32.2 percent from the field. This season, North Georgia has held opponents below 35 percent in nine of the 12 games played.

- Agrusa added 10 rebounds to earn her second double-double of the season. She also had six assists, three steals and a block.

- Julianne Sutton came off the bench to contribute 12 points, all of which came in the second half. Deana Blankinship added 10 points in the win.

- North Georgia tied the all-time series with USC Aiken with the win. Both teams have now won nine games in the series.

UNG will battle Young Harris in the first Battle of Blood Mountain matchup of 2018 on Wednesday, January 10, in Dahlonega. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
