Five Men's Basketball Players Finish in Double Figures in 96-79 Loss at Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. - Shaquan Cantrell led the University of North Georgia men's basketball team with 14 points, but Clayton State led wire-to-wire, defeating the Nighthawks, 96-79, Monday night. All five UNG starters finished in double figures.

The Lakers scored 55 points in the first half by shooting nearly 56 percent from the field. UNG cut the lead down to as few as seven points with 12 minutes to play, but CSU went on a 19-7 run over the next eight minutes to extend the margin to 21 points and earn their 10th Peach Belt Conference win of the season.

NOTES
- Clayton State's Jaylen Taylor and Nathan Powell recorded double-doubles in the win. Taylor led the way with a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Powell contributed 16 points and 10 boards.

- The Nighthawks outscored the Lakers in the paint, 38-34, but Clayton State shot 27-of-41 from the free throw line, compared to 11-of-20 for UNG.

- North Georgia sits in a tie for sixth in the PBC at 6-7 in league play with nine games to play.

The Nighthawks will look to stop the three-game losing skid with a Wednesday night matchup against Columbus State in Memorial Hall. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
