Men's Basketball Falls at Georgia Southwestern, 81-47

AMERICUS, Ga. - R.J. Sessions paced Georgia Southwestern with a game-high 28 points as the Hurricanes defeated the University of North Georgia men's basketball team, 81-47, Saturday afternoon in GSW's Storm Dome.

Neither team scored until the 17:14 mark in the first period when GSW started hitting on all cylinders. The Hurricanes held North Georgia scoreless for the first 7:12 of the game when Shaquan Cantrell hit a layup to get the Nighthawks on the board with the score at 8-2.

The Canes kept shooting the ball well, extending their lead to as many as 14 in the first half before exploding in the second half, leading by as many as 34 on the way to the win.

NOTES
- Tyler Dominy led the way for UNG with 10 points. In total, 10 of the 11 Nighthawks that saw the floor got in the scoring column.

- North Georgia shot a season-low 31.1 percent from the field.

- The 47 points is the fewest scored in a single game since a 45-point night against Samford on November 6, 2006. The Nighthawks scored 49 points in a regular season game back on February 25, 2006, a loss to Armstrong Atlantic, 74-49.

The Nighthawks have an opportunity to bounce back quickly as they take on Clayton State in a makeup game from the snowed out January 17 matchup. Tip off on Monday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
