Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | UNG Athletic Communications

Men's Basketball Comeback Falls Short in 86-78 Loss to Flagler

DAHLONEGA - After hitting the first basket of the game, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team struggled in the first half offensively as Flagler went on to win, 86-78, Monday evening in Memorial Hall. The Nighthawks are still above .500 in the Peach Belt Conference at 5-4.

The Saints stretched their lead to as many as 22 before UNG battled back to an eight-point deficit with just under two minutes to play. Flagler was able to do just enough to hold on and escape Dahlonega with the win.

NOTES
- Ebo Smith became the NCAA-era's three-point shooting king with his three pointer at the 1:48 mark. His 173rd-career three pointer surpassed Lamar Richardson's mark that stood since 2014.

- Smith finished with a team-high 21 points. Shaquan Cantrell added 17 points, while Ephraim Tshimanga had his 10th game with double figures, scoring 10 points.

- The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Nighthawks and gives Flagler its second win in the all-time series against North Georgia.

NEXT UP
Looking to bounce back quickly, UNG will hit the road to take on Clayton State on Wednesday. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m.
