MONTEVALLO, Ala. — The fourth-ranked University of North Georgia softball team came away with a 6-0 rain-shortened victory on the road Saturday afternoon at Montevallo. The game was ended due to heavy in the middle of the sixth inning and forced the second game of the scheduled doubleheader to be postponed until a later date. With the win the Nighthawks improve to 22-6 overall and 2-1 in the Peach Belt Conference.
The Nighthawk bats got going with a
Sydney Sprague home run to left field to make the score 1-0 going into the bottom half of the third inning.
With the Falcons unable to answer back in the bottom of the third, North Georgia came back in stride in the top of the fifth scoring five of their six runs off of four hits, including a two-run homer off the bat of
Stephanie Hartness.
Kylee Smith (15-2) earned the win in the circle after striking out eight and giving up just two hits in five innings of starting work.

Stephanie Hartness was perfect from the plate, going 2-for-2 including a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to make her sixth of the season.

Sydney Sprague now has eight homeruns on the season following her solo shot to left field in the third inning. The eight dingers lead the PBC so far this season. Sprague also added a double in the top of the sixth, however statistics from the top half of the sixth do not count towards season totals with the game officially ending after the fifth.
-After giving up just two hits in today's contest,
Kylee Smith has now given up two or fewer hits in seven of her 17 appearances for the Nighthawks.
-Following the road win, North Georgia is now 5-0 overall against the Falcons and 3-0 in Montevallo.
