MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - After scoring the first nine points of overtime, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team went on to defeat Emmanuel, 102-92, in the season opener at the Georgia College Bobcat Crossover Classic Friday evening.
The Nighthawks jumped out to a 20-9 lead through the first eight minutes of play before the Lions ended with a 15-4 run over the final five minutes of the first half.
North Georgia stormed back in the second half, scoring 52 points in the final 20 minutes of regulation to force overtime, where UNG ran away with the win.
NOTES
- North Georgia moves to 10-7 in season-opening games since 2001. It is the first overtime win for UNG since January 3, 2015, which came against Georgia College at home.

Ephraim Tshimanga and
Tyler Dominy each had 21 points to pace the Nighthawks.
Shaquan Cantrell recorded a double-double, posting 17 points with 10 boards.
- North Georgia shot 53 percent from the field and held Emmanuel to just 38 percent shooting.
- In the other game of the classic, No. 2 Queens defeated Georgia College, 89-53.
