DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia baseball team scored the first seven runs of the game as the Nighthawks ran away with a 14-3 win over Southern Wesleyan Wednesday night at Bob Stein Stadium. UNG improves to 19-15 overall, while the Warriors fall to 11-25.
Steven Tomlinson got the Nighthawks on the board in the second inning when he hit his fifth homer of the season to right field to put UNG up, 1-0. One inning later, he hit another shot, this time to left field, which scored two runs and stretched the lead to 3-0.
Tomlinson started the scoring in the fifth for UNG as he hit a RBI single to right field that scored
Connor Hoover.
Joshua Profit stepped in next and brought home two more Nighthawks on a single that was misfielded by the Warrior centerfielder.
Leading 6-0 in the sixth with one out,
Erick Delgado hit his first triple of his career to right field, and three pitches later,
Devin Gearhart was able to bring him home on a sacrifice fly to center to stretch the Nighthawk lead to 7-0.
The Warriors were able to answer in the top of the seventh when Conner Ewing hit his first homer of the season, a three-run shot to left center to cut the lead to 7-3.
North Georgia answered in the bottom half of the frame when Profit hit a two-run no-doubter to right center that hit off the top of the scoreboard and extended the UNG lead to 9-3. In the eighth, UNG was able to put five more runs up highlighted by Profit and
Trevor Sams hitting RBI doubles to bring the game to its final 14-3 score.
NOTES- Tomlinson became the 36th UNG player to hit two or more home runs in a single game in school history. He finished 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI.

Derrick Pickvet earned his first collegiate win after throwing five innings of four hit baseball. He struck out three and walked two.
- Profit finished 4-for-5 with five RBI. He finished a triple short of the cycle.
- UNG now holds a 25-2 advantage all-time over the Warriors and a 16-1 lead in Dahlonega.
