DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia baseball team used a four-run fourth inning to race past Young Harris, eventually downing the Mountain Lions, 8-4, in Friday evening's series opener at Bob Stein Stadium. With the win, North Georgia improves to 20-15 overall with a 10-12 record in the Peach Belt Conference.
Steven Tomlinson got UNG on the board first with a RBI single to right in the bottom of the first that scored
Devin Gearhart from second. Young Harris answered in the third inning though, with a three-run homerun to left off the bat of Zach Wall to give the Mountain Lions a 3-1 advantage.
After the Nighthawks scored a run off a few Young Harris defensive miscues in the third, UNG plated four runs in the fourth to take control of the game, highlighted by a two-run double to left center by
Sam Tidaback. The big inning allowed the Nighthawks to retake the lead, 6-3.
Tomlinson picked up his third RBI single of the day in the seventh and then both teams traded runs in the eighth to give the game its final 8-4 score.
NOTES-
Brandon Agar (4-3) eclipsed 300 career innings pitched after the second inning. While earning the win, he struck out nine and walked just three in 129 pitches.

Steven Tomlinson finished 3-for-3 with a trio of RBI singles and two walks. In the last five games, Tomlinson is 10-for-19 with eight RBI and five runs scored.
- The Nighthawk pitching staff held Young Harris to .193 (6-for-31) at the plate.
NEXT UPThe two squads will meet again tomorrow afternoon in Dahlonega with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The Operation Nighthawks of Honor ceremony will begin at 1:40 and fans are asked to arrive early to honor the former service men and women of UNG.
