MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Montevallo used six home runs to defeat the University of North Georgia baseball team, 16-5, and claim the Peach Belt Conference series over the Nighthawks. North Georgia is now 25-19 and 13-16 in league play.

Montevallo struck early with back-to-back solo home runs by Jeremy Hyde and Taylor Walker in the first inning. Another solo shot by Matthew Furuto put the Falcons up, 3-0, after two innings.

The Nighthawks took their only lead of the day in the third. After back-to-back-to-back walks,
Trevor Sams and
Steven Tomlinson had RBI doubles that pushed across two runs each to put UNG on top, 4-3.

The Falcons matched the UNG top frame with four of their own in the bottom half of the third with four RBI singles that put Montevallo back on top, 7-4. The Falcons extended their lead in the fourth to 10-4, highlighted by Walker's second solo homer of the day.

A grand slam by UM's Tyler Krabbe highlighted a five-run fifth and stretched the Falcon lead to 15-4. North Georgia earned one back in the sixth as
Erick Delgado scored on a wild pitch and made the score 15-5.

UM added one more in the eighth when Hyde hit his second homer of the day to bring the game to its final 16-5 score.

NOTES
- With the win, Montevallo has now won three of the last four PBC series against the Nighthawks, dating back to 2013. UNG still holds an all-time lead against the Falcons, 13-12.

Logan Burt (1-2) was credited with the loss after giving up four runs in 1.2 innings of relief.
Chris Cobb got the start and gave up three runs off four hits in 1.1 innings.

- Tomlinson led the Nighthawks at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Sams finished 1-for-4 with two RBI as well.
