CARROLLTON, Ga. | The University of North Georgia baseball team scored the first six runs of Wednesday night's non-conference game but eventually fell to West Georgia, 12-10, at UWG's Cole Field.
Trevor Sams got the scoring started with a RBI single to center. Two batters later,
Ryan Tomita scored two more Nighthawks on his own single as UNG would jump out to a 5-0 lead after just one frame.
A
Sam Tidaback RBI single in the second put the Nighthawks up 6-0.
West Georgia responded with six straight runs starting in the second with a two-run homer from Dalton Rogers. Two innings later, the Wolves tied the game up on home runs from Artemis Kadkhodaian and Cade Marlowe.
The Nighthawks answered in the fifth. After loading the bases,
Devin Gearhart and Josh Profit brought home two more runs to put UNG back up 8-6.
West Georgia went on to score four runs in the bottom half of the inning on two singles, a double and a wild pitch.
After Gearhart brought home a ninth run for UNG, Kadkhodaian hit his second two-run homer of the night to put the Wolves up 12-9. North Georgia would add one more in eighth to round out the scoring.
NOTES- UNG is now 13-9 on the year.
- Dalton Reagin (1-0) was credited with the win in relief for the Wolves.
Derrick Pickvet (0-2) was tabbed with the loss for UNG.
Dallas Deavers started for UNG and pitched three innings for the Nighthawks.

Steven Tomlinson led the Nighthawks at the plate, going 3-for-5.
NEXT UPUNG jumps back into Peach Belt Conference play with a three-game set at 21st-ranked USC Aiken. The series starts Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
