DAHLONEGA | Behind a 31-point effort from junior forward
Kelsey Hutchins, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team clipped Georgia College, 79-72, In Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday afternoon in UNG's Memorial Hall.
The win improves UNG to 16-9 overall and an even 8-8 in league play while GC falls to the same identical ledger.
Hutchins made good on 12-of-21 shots from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line en route to her second 30-plus point effort in the last three games. She rounded out her third double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Kadisha Gibbs (19) and LaRice Walker (18) combined to score 37 points for the Bobcats, while Lindsey Reed added 15.
Neither team was able to create any distance as the lead was under double figures in both directions for its entirety. GC's final lead came with 5:46 left in the third quarter following a jumper from Reed, but the Nighthawks answered with a layup from Hutchins and never trailed again.
NOTES-
Jordan Livesay added 16 points for UNG, fueled by 3-of-4 from long distance.

Kaylee Akin added a game-best five assists to the Nighthawks' cause.
- Hutchins netted 26 of her 31 points in the second half.
