DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia women's basketball team kicked off its Peach Belt Conference schedule with a 73-63 win over Augusta on Friday evening in UNG's Memorial Hall.
Julie McKie led a balanced offensive attack with 16 points to go along with a game-high eight rebounds.
UNG improves to 9-1, 1-0 overall while Augusta slides to 4-2, 0-1.
North Georgia scored the first seven points of the game, but would never lead by more than single digits until a game-best 10-point edge midway through the final quarter.
Kelsey Hutchins and
Deana Blankinship added 14 points each for North Georgia, while
Jordan Livesay pitched in with 12 points.
NOTES
- For Augusta, Abrea Harris came off the bench to score a team-best 14 points.
- The game was Hutchins' 36 consecutive game scoring in double figures.
- The win ended a two-game slide for North Georgia in the all-time series with Augusta as the Nighthawks now hold the career edge, 10-7.
- After averaging just three points per game through her first three games, McKie has upped her season scoring output to a career-best 8.4 points per contest.
