Jade Pennock knocked home a penalty kick with under 12 minutes left to play to give the fourth-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Young Harris in the team's Peach Belt Conference opener on Saturday evening at YHC's Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The win moves the Nighthawks to 5-0-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in league play. Young Harris falls to 1-2-0, 0-1-1 PBC. NOTES- North Georgia took all but two of the game's 19 shots, holding a decisive 17-2 edge in shots.
- The score was Pennock's second of the season.

st career save despite not having to save any shots.
- The shutout is the fourth of the season for the Nighthawk defense.
- The PBC regular season-opening victory marked the seventh straight time UNG has kicked off league play with a victory. The last time the Nighthawks lost a conference opener was in 2008 when North Georgia fell 3-0 to Columbus State.
- The one-goal win marked the second consecutive time the Nighthawks have escaped the Enchanted Valley with a single-tally victory after winning 3-2 in overtime in 2013.
- North Georgia has now won all five contests in the series with YHC.
