UNG Baseball Team Steals Second Straight 6-5 Walk Off Win Over West Florida

DAHLONEGA | For the second time in as many days, the No. 26 University of North Georgia baseball team earned a 6-5 walk off win over West Florida on Wednesday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium to sweep the season series over the Argonauts.  With the non-conference win, North Georgia improves to 23-11 on the season.

After UWF broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the ninth with a RBI single, the Nighthawks responded in their final at bat scoring the winning run courtesy of two hit batters and a game-ending infield single.

West Florida (22-14) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a three-run home run to right field by Ledarious Clark in the third.

With the Argonauts leading 4-2 in the seventh and UNG's Ryan Tomita on first, Sam Tidaback took the first pitch he saw as a pinch hitter and deposited it over the left center field fence to even the score.

North Georgia's seven hits were spread out among seven players while Clark and Jimmy Redovian each recorded multiple-hit afternoons for UWF.

Avery Greer was credited with his first win of the season for the Nighthawks after striking out the only batter he faced in the ninth. Josh McLaney (1-3) was saddled with the loss after allowing both earned runs in the ninth.

UNG will step back into Peach Belt Conference play with a three-game series beginning on Friday (Apr. 10) at Young Harris.  First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
