DAHLONEGA | The eighth-ranked University of North Georgia softball team continued its winning ways on Sunday with two run-rule victories over Georgia Southwestern, 8-0 and 14-0, at Hill Stadium. The Nighthawks are now 37-5 on the year and continue to pace the Peach Belt Conference at 18-0.
 
The first inning was the key to both games as the Nighthawks put up five runs in the bottom of the first in game one and an eye-popping 14 runs in the first inning of game two.
 
Tiffanie Burns led the way at the plate on the day with a combined 4-for-4 effort and a team-high six runs batted in.
 
Courtney Poole (30-1) collected the win in game one, striking out seven of the 14 batters that she faced in four innings of work, allowing just two bloop singles. Poole started the second game, but did not pitch the minimum amount of innings required to be credited with the win. That honor would fall upon Meagan Stover (6-2) who pitched 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits. Ally LeGette also got in on the action, making her first Peach Belt appearance tossing a perfect fifth inning in game two.

Head coach Mike Davenport emptied his roster in the second game, playing 22 student-athletes in the game.
 
The Nighthawks will return to the field on Tuesday, taking on Columbus State in a PBC doubleheader at Hill Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
