Sam Tidaback's Four-Hit Night Lifts Baseball Team Past Pfeiffer, 4-2

DAHLONEGA | Fueled by a four-hit night by Sam Tidaback, the University of North Georgia posted its first win of the 2015 season with a 4-2 victory over Pfieffer on Friday evening at Bob Stein Stadium.  The game was the first collegiate baseball game played on artificial turf in the state of Georgia.

The Nighthawks (1-1) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Tremayne Toorie's double scored Joey Cecere who led off the inning with a single.

North Georgia extended its lead to 2-0 when Cameron Crawford scampered home on a wild pitch an inning later.

Zach Scudder cut the North Georgia lead in half in the fourth with a solo shot to center field, but a three-hit seventh inning for the Nighthawks plated two runs to stretch the lead back to 4-1.

Anthony Allende belted a solo shot down the left field line for Pfeiffer (2-3) to cap the scoring in the eighth.

North Georgia's Brandon Agar (1-1) earned the win on the mound, fanning nine Falcons while scattering eight hits in five innings of work.  Josh Bryan collected the save with four innings of relief in which he struck out three while allowing just two hits.

Pfeiffer's Ethan Greene (1-1) took the loss for the Falcons despite just allowing two runs over five innings, striking out seven.  Allende was 3-4 from the plate to lead the Falcons' offense.

The North Georgia defense used a pair of defensive gems to seal the win.  Toorie put the first out on the board with a diving catch on the warning track in the gap before the middle infield tandem of Connor Hoover and Cecere turned a game-ending double play to cap the night.

Pfeiffer out-hit the Nighthawks, 10-9.

The two teams will play the second game series tomorrow (Feb. 7), with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
