North Georgia Moves Up Start Times For Basketball Regular Season Finale

Projected wintry weather moving Into northern Georgia mountains on Wednesday evening

DAHLONEGA | Projected wintry weather in the north Georgia mountains has forced a change in game times for tomorrow's (February 25) basketball games with Georgia Southwestern State.  The new game times will feature a 2:30 p.m. tip off for the women's game followed by a 4:30 p.m. start for the men.

The games, originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. starts, were moved up following discussions with administrators from both schools regarding safe travel in snow and icy conditions that are forecasted for the Dahlonega area.

The games are the final regular season contests for both teams and carry Peach Belt Conference Tournament seeding implications.

On the women's side, North Georgia controls their own destiny and needs either a win by the Nighthawks over the Hurricanes or a Clayton State loss to secure the West Division second seed and a first round home game on Saturday (Feb. 28).  A North Georgia loss paired with a Clayton State win at No. 6 Columbus State would give UNG the third seed and send the Nighthawks to a quarterfinal matchup at USC Aiken.

On the men's side, North Georgia must defeat the Hurricanes to earn a spot in the PBC Tournament.  With a loss, the Nighthawks would be eliminated from the group of teams fighting for the final two West Division playoff spots through the league's tiebreaker system.

Fans not able to make the early games in Memorial Hall can follow all the action through Nighthawk Vision's live statistics and live video stream
