Williams Leads Balanced Offensive Attack As Nighthawks Race Past Shorter, 102-82

DAHLONEGA | T.J. Williams led five players in double figures with a team-high 19 points as the University of North Georgia men's basketball team handed Shorter its first loss of the season with a 102-82 decision on Tuesday evening in UNG's Memorial Hall. 

The Nighthawks ended the first half on a 20-4 run, including 15 unanswered, to take a 50-37 lead into intermission.  Sean Brennan's three-pointer just before the buzzer finished sent UNG into the locker room with a 13-point edge.

NOTES
- Brennan finished with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists in his first start of the season.

- Corey Green added 17 points fueled by a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.

- Heading into the holiday break, North Georgia was in a giving mood as the Nighthawks assisted on 19 of their 30 made field goals.

- Ebo Smith and Juan Rivas added 15 and 11 respectively for the Nighthawks.  Smith connected on all but one of his free throw attempts, while Rivas came off the bench to narrowly miss a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds.

- North Georgia dominated the glass, 46-27 (+19).

- Rivas' nine rebounds marked the third time through the first six games in which the junior forward has led the team in rebounding.
 
- The Nighthawks made good on a season-high 58% from downtown (14-of-24) as five different players made at least two threes.

- North Georgia improves to 2-4 overall while the loss was Shorter's first of the season as the Hawks fall to 4-1.
 
STAT OF THE NIGHT
46 – Shorter's Phil Taylor scored a game-high 46 points on 14-of-26 shooting from the field and 15-of-21 from the charity stripe.  He accounted for 56% of Shorter's offense and took 70% of the team's free throw attempts.

The Nighthawks will travel to Augusta on Saturday (Nov. 28) for an 8:00 p.m. non-conference game at Paine.
