DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia women's basketball team used a strong effort down the stretch in the second half to pull away from UNC Pembroke (5-10, 3-5 Peach Belt) and down the Braves, 59-50 on Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt action in UNG's Memorial Hall.
The Nighthawks came out of the game quick and would lead for the majority of the game.
Kelsey Hutchins led North Georgia in scoring with 16 points, while
Stephanie Huffman pulled down 13 boards to lead the team in rebounds. Huffman also posted 12 points on the night giving her a double-double, the 22nd of her career in Dahlonega.
Mary Robinson and Kierra Haney lead the Braves attack with 12 points each.
Rebecca Webster added eight points off the bench for North Georgia while
Cierra Jackson contributed with nine rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Samantha Glodis added a season-best seven points in her first career start as a Nighthawk.
The win ended a two-game slide for the Nighthawks as UNG advances to 13-4 with a 5-3 mark in conference play.
North Georgia will return to action on Monday, hosting Francis Marion at Memorial Hall. The game will feature a special 1:30 p.m., tipoff on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day.
