ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Behind a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds from
Kelsey Hutchins, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team posted a 75-68 Peach Belt Conference win at Flagler on Thursday evening. The sophomore forward connected on nine-of-12 shots from the floor en route to her team-best fourth double-double of the season.
Senior guard
Stephanie Huffman added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists while
Cierra Jackson and
Kaylee Akin added 13 and 11 respectively. Akin's offensive output marked a new career high for the sophomore guard.
Flagler (2-5, 0-1 PBC) also placed four players in double figures led by Treva Mason's double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds.
North Georgia led by a game-high 17 points, 57-40, following an extended 21-5 run over the early part of the second half to pull away from the host Saints.
The win marks the sixth consecutive PBC opening victory for the Nighthawks and the 9-1 ledger matches the program's best 10-game start in the NCAA era. The 2007-08 squad also opened the season winning nine of its first 10 contests.
North Georgia (9-1, 1-0 PBC) completes the two-game conference road swing with a 1:30 p.m. tip-off at Armstrong State on Saturday, Dec. 20.
