Green's Double-Double Pushes Nighthawks Past Chowan, 67-60

PENSACOLA, Florida | Fueled by a season-best double-double by Corey Green, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team rallied from a halftime deficit to edge Chowan, 67-60, on the opening day of the West Florida Thanksgiving Classic.  The junior forward tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Nighthawks move to 4-1 on the season.

North Georgia will wrap up play at the four-team even on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. tip-off with Claflin.

Chowan (3-1) was led by 16 points from Hank Edmonds.  Kyree Bethel and Warren Powers added 13 and 10 respectively.

For North Georgia, Shaquan Cantrell added 16 points.

A layup by T.J. Williams at the 6:44 mark gave the Nighthawks an eight point lead (20-12), their largest of the half, but Chowan closed out the half with a 10-3 run to hold a 32-25 edge heading into halftime.

A layup by Travis Core with just over 13:00 minutes left in the game gave UNG the lead for the lead for good.  The Nighthawks led by as many as ten points (56-46) as late as the 5:43.

North Georgia held a decisive advantage from the free throw line where they connected on 18-of-25 shots compared to just two-of-four for Chowan.
