ROME, Georgia | The University of North Georgia men's basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season Monday evening dropping a high-scoring affair to Shorter University, 99-93. The Nighthawks (3-1) erased a 14-point halftime deficit and pulled within one point of Shorter (4-1) on two different occasions within the final four minutes of the game.

Shaquan Cantrell paced UNG with 22 points on the night with forward
T.J. Williams just behind at 20 points in the game.

Jordan Jacks posted a double-double for the Hawks, scoring 24 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field, with Shorter holding an impressive advantage at 58 percent compared to UNG's 51.

The Nighthawks will head to Pensacola, Florida this weekend to take part in the University of West Florida Thanksgiving Classic. North Georgia's is set to take on Chowan University on Friday with tipoff set for 3 p.m.
