Pair Of Double-Doubles Key Nighthawks In 74-66 Win Over Stillman

DAHLONEGA | Behind a pair of double-doubles from Stephanie Huffman and Kelsey Hutchins, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team rallied for a 74-66 win over Stillman on the opening day of the 2014 UNG Nighthawk Classic.  The win moves North Georgia to 3-0 on the season while Stillman remains winless through their first three games.

Huffman posted 28 points and 10 rebounds while Hutchins added 15 points and 16 rebounds. 

North Georgia connected on 26 of 31 free throw attempts with Huffman leading the way hitting all but one of her 16 attempts from the charity stripe.

Stillman used a balanced offensive attack with 11 players registering a field goal.  Joclyn Ramos and Samantha Thomas were the Tigers' lone two players in double figures with 14 and 10 respectively.

The Tigers scored the game's first nine points and led by as many as 11 in the first half before North Georgia was able to trim the deficit to two (30-28) at the break. 

UNG took the lead for good with 11:55 left in the game on a three-pointer by Molly Rainwater.  The junior guard ended the night with 17 points fueled by five three-pointers.

In the first game of the day, fellow Peach Belt Conference member Georgia College outscored Tuskegee 48-24 in the second half to take a 91-65 win.  Shanteona Keys led GC with 22 points on 5 of 7 shooting from three. TU's Rachel Brownlee scored a game-high 26 points. 

Saturday's games will feature Georgia College facing Stillman at 2:00 p.m. followed by North Georgia and Tuskegee squaring off at 4:00 p.m.
