Esther Zuniga is entering her second year as a graduate assistant coach for the University of North Georgia tennis program. Zuniga came to Dahlonega after a stellar playing career at NCAA Division I North Florida.
Following the women's tennis banner year in 2017, Zuniga was voted the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
She earned All-Atlantic Sun Second-Team honors for both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Zuniga tallied a 19-12 overall singles mark, including 13-5 in dual matches after beginning the spring at No. 2 singles (7-2) before working way to No. 1 singles (6-3). She played on the No. 1 court for last 10 matches, including all Atlantic Sun matches.
Prior to UNF, she competed for Florida State College of Jacksonville and helped the team to a record-high fourth-place finish at the 2013 NJCAA Women’s Team Championships. Zuniga claimed the school’s first ever NJCAA national singles title and ended the season as the No. 1 women’s tennis player in the NJCAA ITA College Tennis Rankings.
Zuniga will assist head coach Kent Norsworthy with all aspects of both the men’s and women’s tennis programs.
