How Thiel got to UNG
Chandler Thiel will wear a Nighthawk uniform this season as a freshman right-handed pitcher from Woodstock, Ga. Thiel recently graduated from River Ridge High School where he Georgia High School Association (GHSA) First Team All-Region 6-6A selection. Thiel was also named to the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Second Team. His efforts earned him an appearance in a pair of all star games in Georgia East West Underclass All Star Game and the Georgia Dugout Club All State All Star Game. In his senior season, Thiel was also named the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame Most Outstanding Player in high school baseball. Chandler comes from an athletic family as his brother, Harrison, also played baseball at Georgia Tech. Thiel said "Once I came for a visit I knew it was the place for me. Everything from the coaches to the facilities and overall campus sold me."
