How Harper got to UNG
Katelyn Harper, a native of nearby Social Circle, Ga., is a second generation Nighthawk after following in the footsteps of her parents by attending UNG as a freshman in 2024. Harper's parents Ty and Erica both attended North Georgia College & State University prior to consolidation and Harper's mom, then Erica Mucklow, also ran cross country during her time in Dahlonega. Harper posted some impressive times at Apalachee High School to help land her at her desired destination since her sophomore year. She posted a 21:15.29 time in the 5K while running well in track & field in the 3200-meter (12:44.11) and 1600-meter (5:39.09) races. About UNG, Harper said, "Comparing to other schools, UNG just had the most beautiful campus, was not too far from home and has so much to offer, especially the opportunity to run for the team."
