How Shongo got to UNG
Stephane Shongo, a junior from nearby Suwanee, Ga., transferred to UNG in 2024 after beginning his collegiate career at NAIA member Life University in Marietta, Ga. Shongo had a very impressive opening season with the Running Eagles. He played in 14 games, starting 10 and totaled eight points across three goals and two assists. His first career goal came against Dalton State and he recorded goals in back-to-back games less than a month later against Tennessee Southern and Blue Mountain Christian. Shongo, a Peach state native, had already expressed interest in attending UNG and playing soccer during his senior year at Peachtree Ridge high school. The interest was mutual, but Shongo decided to take a gap year instead before resuming his athletic career at Life. After finishing his first season at Life, Shongo "was sure [he] wanted to come to UNG" to continue his career.
