How Sandoval got to UNG
On a roster that had four players from Johnson High School in nearby Gainesville, Ga. in 2024, Jorge Sandoval was one of the originators of the pipeline built by head coach Anel Lilic. Despite graduating a year ahead of his high school teammates, Sandoval competed with many of them as freshman after taking a gap year in 2023. In his return to play in 2024 he brought a pedigree unlike any others from his glory days at Johnson High School. Sandoval was a two-time state champion with the Knights who went a combined 42-1-1 en route to back-to-back Georgia state titles in 2022 (5A) and 2023 (4A). In 2023, Sandoval was named the 4A Player of the Year by Georgia High School Soccer. Sandoval also earned Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) First Team All-State honors in 2023. He ended his career with 83 goals for the Knights, the third-most in program history within a program that was named the No. 1 team in the country after its 2023 state title.
