Ty Anderson is in his first year as the graduate assistant on head coach Chris Faulkner’s men’s basketball staff. He comes to UNG following a tour in the Peace Corps
He was a four-year letter-winner after walking on to the men’s basketball team at Georgia Tech.
Anderson was a four-year starter at Oconee County High School and earned second-team all-Northeast Georgia honors as a junior and senior after averaging 14.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
He was ranked one of the top-50 seniors in Georgia by Rivals.com and made all-star teams at the Five-Star Camp, Elite Hoops Georgia Showcase and Rivals.com Georgia Showcase.
Anderson is the grandson of the legendary college basketball coach Charles "Lefty" Driesell, who retired in 2003 after 41 years as a head coach at Davidson, Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State.
In his time as a student-athlete at Georgia Tech, Anderson conducted the first Ty Anderson Basketball Academy along with Athens AAU coach Michael Palmer at Athens First United Methodist Church last summer.
