DAHLONEGA - University of North Georgia (UNG) softball player Lila Mullinax has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week following a strong week in the circle for the Nighthawks.

Mullinax made two appearances for North Georgia, tossing 7.2 innings while allowing just four hits and no runs. The freshman recorded five strikeouts and issued five walks while facing 25 batters on the week.

Opponents hit just .160 against Mullinax during the two outings as she helped the Nighthawks maintain their success in the circle.

Through the season's first stretch of games, Mullinax ranks among the Peach Belt Conference leaders in several pitching categories. She is second in the league in fewest runs allowed (18), fourth in fewest earned runs allowed (16), fewest hits allowed (41) and opponent batting average (.217), fifth in strikeouts (42) and wins (six), and sixth in earned run average at 2.24.

North Georgia returns to action March 20 when the Nighthawks travel to Lander for a Peach Belt Conference series.
