DENTON, Texas – The No. 16 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in a tie for fourth place among 15 teams after day one at the DBU Classic hosted by Dallas Baptist (DBU) at Oakmont Country Club in Denton, Texas.

Heavy rainfall in the Denton area caused a change in tournament proceedings Monday. Due to the extensive moisture on the course, the DBU Classic was altered from a 54-hole event to 36 holes Monday morning. Round one was played Monday while the event will conclude with round two on Tuesday.

UNG combined to shoot 6-over on Monday. DBU leads the field at 4-under while UT Tyler (4-over), Arkansas Tech (5-over), Midwestern State (6-over) and UNG round out the top five.

On Monday, the Nighthawks were led by a stellar performance from senior Cora Mount who finished the day in third place individually after posting a 2-under-par 70 at the 6,396-yard Oakmont CC.

Mount was 1-over after nine holes but finished on a tear with birdies at the par-5 15th, the par-3 17th and the par-4 1st hole to end the day in red numbers.

Junior Abby Franks finished the day at 2-over with a 74 which included a trio of birdies.

Freshman Claire Bradford and sophomore Ellie Jane Riner each shot a 3-over 75 on Monday to conclude play in the top 45 on the individual leaderboard.

Another freshman, Leigh Allen, also had an impressive opening round while competing as an individual. Allen used two front-nine birdies to shoot an even-par 72 and finish in 11th place ahead of Tuesday's final round.

The final round of the now 36-hole event tees off with a shotgun start tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8 a.m.
