No. 19 UNG Cruises To Win Over UAB

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 19 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle team secured another win Saturday against Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) with a 4642-4549 victory.

UNG dominated the competition, holding the top five spots on the overall leaderboard. For the fourth straight match, junior shooter Maya Cameron led the way in scoring for the Nighthawks.

Cameron was the top shooter in Milledgeville, Ga. Saturday after posting a Smallbore score of 580 to go along with her 590 in Air Rifle. Cameron hit the most centers of any shooter in either discipline and led the entire match with an aggregate score of 1,170 points and 70 centers.

Coming in just behind Cameron was freshman Brianna Walter who posted an aggregate score of 1,165 points with 66 centers. She coupled a 577 in Smallbore with a 588 in Air Rifle for another strong performance.

Sophomore Courtney Allison had a great day as well in third on the individual leaderboard with 1,152 points. Her performance was highlighted by a score of 582 in Air Rifle.

Sophomore Corbin Jockers continued his strong shooting of late with an aggregate score of 1,148 points and a fourth place finish overall. 

Finally, freshman Wyatt Hicks rounded out the individual leaderboard representation for the Nighthawks as he came in fifth place with an aggregate score of 1,145 points and 45 centers.

UNG will now prepare to head to Statesboro, Ga. for the Southern Conference Rifle Championships next weekend. The SoCon Championship begins on Saturday, Feb. 8 and ends on Sunday, Feb. 9. The Nighthawks have finished top three at the conference championship in eight straight seasons.
