10/28/2025 3:31:00 PM

LILBURN, Ga. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball team enters the 2025-26 season ranked fourth in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Preseason Coaches Poll as announced by the association on Tuesday morning.

North Georgia completed the 2024-25 season with a 31-3 record, winning both the PBC regular season tournament titles. The Nighthawks received the top seed in the NCAA Southeast Region and reached the Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history.

North Georgia was the lone school to receive a first-place vote outside of top-ranked Grand Valley State. Union (Tenn.), Texas Woman's and Gannon join UNG to make up the top-five.

The WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll Committee is composed of one head coach from each of the 23 NCAA Division II conferences.

Head coach Buffie Burson returns three starters from last season's team led by All-American and 2025 Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year Caroline Martin

The Nighthawks open their season on Friday, November 7th in the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic against (RV) Ferris State at Gannon in Erie, Pa.
