North Georgia Men's Golf Reveals 2024 Fall Schedule

8/29/2024 2:09:00 PM

DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia men's golf team and head coach Bryson Worley have announced the fall schedule of the 2024-25 season.

After ending last year as the No. 1 team in the country and National Champion Runners-Up, the Nighthawks return a pair of Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Americans in senior Hughes Threlkeld and graduate student Jack Vajda. They also bring back senior Ethan Day who was a PBC All-Conference and GCAA All-Region selection a season ago.

The year starts with the Bearcat Fall Invitational at Monticello Golf Club in McCormick, S.C. on Monday, Sep. 9. Last year, the Nighthawks won the event last year at 22-under-par, beating out a stacked 18-team field.

The second tournament of the year is UNG's marquee event. On Monday, Sep. 23 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga., the Nighthawks will host the Third Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate. They finished second in the tournament last year, but have recently shown an ability to dominate Chattahoochee GC, winning the South/Southeast Regional Tournament last May.

On Monday, Oct. 7, UNG will head to Albany, Ga. and Doublegate Country Club for the GSW Hurricane Invitational. That tournament is followed by the Copperhead Championship hosted by West Florida at Innisbrook Golf Resort on Monday, Oct. 14.

The last time UNG competed in the Sunshine State was in the NCAA Championship where they finished as the runner up. The last time the Nighthawks participated in an event hosted by UWF was back in April when they finished second in the Argonaut Invitational after a ferocious comeback in the final round of the tournament.

The fall season ends with the Nemacolin Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 21 at the Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pa. The tournament is hosted by Findlay.

Last fall, the Nighthawks won three of the five fall tournaments they competed in and finished no worse than third in any of them. The reigning national runners-up will look to repeat and build off a stellar season last year.
