SEWANEE, Tenn. – The University of North Georgia women's track & field team had six top-5 finishes at the Mountain Lauren Invitational in Sewanee, Tenn. Saturday afternoon. Two of those top-5 finishes came as a team in the women's 4x400-meter and 4x100-meter relay races.
The day was highlighted by a pair of individual first place finishes for head coach Chris England's team.
Junior Anna Chasteen ran a 5:01.43 time in the women's 1500-meter race on her way to a first place finish. Freshman Adi Myers followed with a win in the women's 300-meter race after running an 11:19.65 time.
A fourth place finish also came from senior Kaylee Downing in the women's 400-meter race. Downing ran a 1:02.38 in the event to land in the top-5.
Downing, Myers, freshman Grace Opsahl and senior Ashley Pope teamed up to run a 57.21 time in the women's 4x100m relay en route to a podium finish in second place.
Chasteen, Downing, Opsahl and freshman Nealeigh Broadwell then combined to run a 4:24.64 in the women's 4x400m relay which landed them the top spot on the podium in first place.
The team will now get ready for the PBC Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. The two day meet begins Monday, Apr. 29.
