MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – In the first dual meet of the season, the University of North Georgia women's track & field team had a number of impressive finishes at the Victor Icebreaker Duals.
Hosted by Berry College at Clark Track and Dickey Field, 19 schools competed in the event Saturday.
The Nighthawks had 14 different runners compete in four different events during the day.
Senior Claire Mills headlined the meet for the team by winning the women's 1500 meter competition. The Lilburn, Ga. native won with a time of 4:57.16 winning by more than two seconds over Montevallo's Sarah Turner.
A pair of fellow Nighthawks finished in the top 5 of the women's 1500 meter race as junior Anna Chasteen and freshman Adi Myers finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Chasteen ran a 5:03.71 time while Myers finished at 5:11.87.
Junior Ella Stoudenmire landed on the podium for UNG in the women's 400 meter event. Stoudenmire finished in third place overall with a time of 1:00.48, just two seconds out of first place.
The next meet for the team will take place on Saturday, Mar. 9 as the Nighthawks will travel to the CAU Panther Invitational hosted by Clark Atlanta University. The event will take place all day at the Clark Atlanta University Panther Football/Track and Field Stadium.
